Halal Meat Delivery for Bristol Students, UoB and UWE

Student halls and shared houses in Bristol are a long way from a halal butcher, and a bus to Easton with a rucksack full of chicken is nobody's idea of a Saturday. We deliver halal meat to the door instead, cut to order in Fishponds on the morning it goes out. Order by 2pm and it arrives the same day.

For University of Bristol students, the precinct around Tyndalls Park and the houses in Cotham, Redland and Clifton are all within five road miles of us, so delivery is £7. The halls at Stoke Bishop are a little further out and cost £9. UWE is closer still. Frenchay campus and Glenside are a few minutes up the road, and £7.

The minimum order is £55. That is a lot for one person and not much for a house. Most student orders come from four or five people putting in together, one person paying and everyone sending their share. Split four ways the delivery comes to under £2 each.

The cheaper cuts go furthest. Chicken thighs and drumsticks cost less per kilo than breast and hold up better in a curry that sits on the hob for an hour. Beef on the bone and lamb neck on the bone turn one pack into a stew for six. Mince is the obvious one, beef or lamb, for keema, kofte, pasta or burgers.

If the freezer is the real limit, and in a student kitchen it usually is, say so in the order notes. Mince can go out in half kilo bags and chicken can be portioned, so each person's share fits in their drawer. The Chicken Family Box is the easy way to stock a shared freezer in one go.

Put the full address with the flat or room number and a phone number someone will actually answer. The purpose built blocks in the centre usually have a reception desk or a buzzer panel, and one line in the notes about how to get in saves the driver ringing round the building. We do not leave chilled meat outside a door without being told to, so pick a slot at checkout when someone in the house will be in.
