Halal sourcing
Everything in this shop is halal. Not a halal section inside a bigger shop, and not a label you have to hunt for on the back of a pack. It is the reason the shop exists, so a basket here cannot mix.
Where the meat comes from
We are delivery only, which means there is no abattoir behind us and no slaughtering on our premises. Our fresh meat comes from the halal wholesaler that supplies halal butchers across Bristol, and it is cut, weighed and packed to order on the morning your delivery goes out rather than sitting portioned in a chiller waiting for someone to buy it.
The paperwork
Halal is a claim about a supply chain, and a claim about a supply chain is only worth the documents behind it. If you want to see the halal certification for a particular cut before you order, ask us and we will send you what our supplier holds for it. That question is a fair one to ask any butcher, and we would rather answer it than have you take our word for it.
Groceries, not just the counter
The same rule covers the rest of the shop. The chilled counter, the bakery and frozen aisles and the pantry shelves are stocked on the same basis as the meat, so a household that shops here does not have to run two sets of rules at the same checkout.
Questions we get asked
Is everything you sell halal?
Yes. The whole shop is halal, meat and groceries both. There is no non-halal line to check the label for and nothing to avoid in the aisles.
Do you slaughter your own meat?
No. We are a delivery-only butcher with no abattoir. Our fresh meat comes from the halal wholesaler that supplies butchers across Bristol, and we cut, weigh and pack it to order.
Can I see the halal certification?
Yes. Ask us before you order and we will send you the certification our supplier holds for that product. We would rather answer the question than have you guess.
When will my meat arrive?
Order by 2pm and your order goes out on the same day's delivery run across our Bristol and Bath area. After 2pm it moves to the next run.
